Academic Faculty - Professor David Weir
David Weir is Professor of Intercultural Management at Liverpool Hope University and Affiliate Professor at ESC Rennes, and is also
visiting Professor in Management Development, Lancaster University, UK and the Bristol Business School at the University of the
West of England. He is Professor Emeritus of Northumbria University and is a Partner in Fourth Paradigm Consulting and with Weir, Marsh, Greenwood Consultants and an Associate
with Gulf National Consultants (Kuwait). He is an internationally-known presenter and consultant in the field of intercultural
leadership and management. He has worked in many parts of the world including Europe, North America, the Caribbean and Latin America,
and the Middle East.
He was educated at Oxford University where he obtained the MA in Politics, Philosophy and Economics and
the Post-graduate Diploma in Public and Social Administration. He is a Companion of the Chartered Institute
of Management and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and is a Burgess of the City of Glasgow.
Professor Weir
has held several appointments in the public and private sectors, as Director of Gulliver Foods, Chairman of
Forever-Broadcasting (Yorkshire), Arbitrator for the Dairy Industry (Scotland), member of the Committee of Inquiry into
the Engineering Profession (Finniston Committee), Chair of the Teaching Company Management Committee of the Science and
Engineering Research Council, and a member of Council of the Council for National Academic Awards.
Prior to joining CERAM, Professor Weir was Dean and Director of the Newcastle Business School at the University of
Northumbria; Director of the Bradford Management Centre; Professor of Organisational Behaviour at Glasgow University;
Dean of the Scottish Business School. He has held academic appointments at Manchester Business School and at Aberdeen,
Leeds, Hull and Manchester Universities, ESAN (Peru), IESEG and THESEUS.
Professor Weir has taught at many Universities and Business Schools in Europe, Asia, Latin America and North America
and has consulted with many leading international businesses and organisations including the World Bank, UNESCO, the
E.U, the Scottish Development Agency, Accenture, the Police Federation of England and Wales, and the Emerald Group.
